S now run in let the fun begin

see pic

in exactly 4 weeks i have managed the 1250 miles run in cost me £160 in petrol and longer drives home, did manage to creep over 4500 rpm once or twice but overall tried to take it easy and hardly ever used the sport button. mpg looking around the 37 - 38 mark, i am sure this will drop now its run in and i can hammer it.

I've just gone past 1250 miles in mine as well! Looking forward to giving it a bit more gas now!! Can also feel the car starting to 'loosen up' a bit so each time I drive it, it feels smoother and smoother!!

i was told that you dont need to run in engines anymore - so ofcourse I dont and have never had any issues. I drove my R56 hard from day one and always had the sport button engaged. The car went like a rocked after about 1000 miles.

You don't need to hold back on the Sport button when running in - I've NEVER driven anywhere without it on.

Just part of my routine now.

Key in - CHECK
Clutch down - CHECK
Push Start button - CHECK
Push Sport button - CHECK

DRIVE

Does anyone in the know , know if it's necessary to run an engine in.My dealer says it's best to floor it from new but I don't know if he's saying that so I'll need a new car sooner rather than later.
