Very valid question. I have had a better than expected few months and having spoken to the wife and made a few calls I've decided to buy a Porsche 997 C2S. The Mini is great in so many ways, from that wonderful turbo engine to the stunning JCW aero kit and the comfort from the heated seats, bluetooth etc. It has been the perfect London car for me, 30mpg, £475 a year to insure etc. but the lure of my first 911 was too much. Financially the time is right and at 33 years old I don't mind putting the money into a Porsche now as when I'm 40 with a smaller mortgage and more cash I might feel too old to own one and may also be too sensible. I refused to part ex the Mini to the money grabbing Porsche dealerships who value cars as if they cost the same as a bag of sweets.

Well I am going to reduce the price on my car to £20250. It is an absolute steal at that price. PM me if anyone is serious.

If you can afford to buy and pay the running costs associated with a Porsche 997 then get it. They hold their value well and are fab' vehicles.

Pity you live in London though as you will not be able to fully utilise it's performance.

I wish you good luck with your purchase.

Mmm.. I have the 997 C2S and am buying the mini!
(As an additional car!)

911's arent the best things for dumping on city centre car parks all day.

I don't know if it was on your wish list, but if you did like the aerokit. Forget it. It doesnt do multi-storey car parks. (Not unless you own a spray shop!)

Looking forward to the simplicity of mini ownership!

Well he'll have to get a move on. I've just had a bid from a dealer at £19200 and unless I get a bid in the next 24 hours above that then I'm just going to sell it to the dealer. Hassle free in a lot of respects.

Nope, no aerokit for the reasons you have stated. And we have the wifes 4x4 for trips to shopping centres etc. and when we take the kids out. The 997 is going to be my car to commute to work and for weekend sessions. Can't wait. It's a childhood dream come true.

That's quite nice Rams!

But, I'm shocked to see that you're getting rid of one of my favourite MINIs in the site!

However, I'm glad you're planning on keeping those gorgeous wheels! I'm sure that they'll look great on an R-56!!!

The new one gives me a new project to work on, I'm obviously going to put a new roof graffic on any suggestions?

I like the first one...Dr. Lechter is a classic!

But, thinking about that white Cooper S, I'd go for something like this...(although I guess some of my choices would be way too gay for you)...

Would have to agree with Fevs, if I had a MINI already, I'd say priority would be getting out on my own, standing on my own two feet rather than living with my parents when I am fast approaching 30, but then I have always liked my freedom and being able to get ahead in life.

Seen many on here do that, even by selling their MINI's.

As for the roof graphics, I just don't see how they are (A) either connected to the MINI or (B) connected to your character, to me its just as case of finding a photo that someone might perceive as cool and trying to reflect that on yourself There has to be more of a reason than wanting to stand out in a crowd for doing it, but maybe thats just me

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Let me tell you the resale values are not great ,this spec for resale is a mugs game as i have found out.
