MFSW, is it worth it?

Call me ond f fashiond but there are some things that don't need to change, Possible some of you's have discussed this before. But in my new S i ordered it with the MFSW, thinking that it would be a good as my older MFSW.

How wrong was i................. The previous MFSW had the buttons on the rear of the steering wheel and one could change between CD and radio without taking your hands on the wheel. So why have they gone and not put that function on the newer versions of the MFSW's the mind boggles. It's more risky if your bombing along the road whilst trying to change from Radio to CD or Aux etc.

Any comments on this, or is there a way of programming the wheel to respond to changes of audio output.

I don't have the bluetooth phone thing, so the extra buttons are pointless to me.

I completely agree. I much prefer the look of the three spoke wheel, but the old two-spoke with buttons on the back was so much more natural to use. If it wasn't for cruise control, I wouldn't spec a 3-spoke MFSW again.

I got it and iit is ok, but still think it should be standard.

Would I spec it again...probably yes, good when linked in with the iPOD as it means it is easy to jump tracks.

I am planning on getting a Parrot Evo bluetooth kit when I get the money together, and then no unused buttons on the wheel.

Cruise

I wonder if cruise control is even called for in a car that's made for driving. On the other hand, investment in cruise control might have a good return in the form of avoided tickets.

I certainly use it for sticking to teh speed limit when driving through road works etc...we have lots of average speed cameras on road works these days.

And driving involves all styles, good to be able to just set the cruise control and relax... dont need to be going everywhere at full tilt

i have to agree, i have a '55 park lane and much prefer the MFSW on that to the new R56 version. Having the stereo on the back and the cruise on the front is, i find, more user friendly.

to any one who dosnt think they need cruise control......have you even driven throught a SPECS speed camera area? trust me.....cruise makes it atlt easier! set it at the max aloud and just stear it around the others.....

I like the MFSW, I never had it on my old car so I cant compare. For me its great, esp with the iPod... Don't have to use the little joystick thing all the time lol!

Cruise control is good too. Used it on the M69 today with police all over the place, set it to a comfortable 68mph and happily cruised past the T5's without worrying .

I'd say it's definitely worth it. It's the one option I regret not getting on my current Cooper (and I've got most things ).

I would get the MFSW every time but of course your right, the move to the new 3 spoke lost the 'mode' function....(both 1st and 2nd gen) which I think most would agree is a backwards step. Replace one of those stupid Bluetooth buttons which I bet hardly anyone specs, with a mode button!!
