How many miles on a full tank of fuel??

I picked my MCS up last Thursday. I do some 600 miles a week so jumping from a Golf GT TDI into the MCS i was expecing a hike in fuel usage. However I am shocked! When i collected the car I saw an advertisment boasting the diesel could do 550 miles to a tank!!!
My first tank lasted 460 Miles combining motorway and some heavy right foot fun hahaha!, and now my second tank half way through ive covered 250 miles with 260 on the computer to go. All my driving it motorway using cruise control sat at 70! I use to own an 03 MCS before i wrote it off by leaving the motorway ang saying hello to a lamppost!! I never use to get the same economy as i do with the new turbocharged version. If i achieve 500 miles to a tank out of the new MCs that will be astonashing for such a high powered little car. Im chuffed!

Well I am not sure the actual conversion rate. I get 480 US miles to a tank when I drive highway for work. On an average tank with both city and hwy I get about 380. I have an S.

Got my MCS 05/07/07 and it's done 1164 miles to date. The computer is showing 38.9 mpg from the time I got it.

It's been used for urban, rural and motorways with the occasional 100 mph for 5-10 minutes using Shell V-power and Tesco 99.

I am very pleased with these results compared to my previous Honda Type-R, which use to average 26.0 mpg!

From reading other threads, it seems the R56 MC gets around the same mpg as the R56 MCS

all the more reason to buy one

My '07 S MT got over 500 miles to a tank (driven conservatively).
My '07 S AT gets about 420.

Safety fast,
Bill

Good point, but the easy way to check MPG is using the computer. Mileage per tank is misleading for the reason stated above.

You would get a higher MPG on the MCS by not turning on the Sports mode as it's more right foot sensitive. I did not use the Sports mode for the 1st 400 miles and was getting 41 MPG !

Reading this is like music to my ears because i am lucky if I get more than 300 miles to a tank in my current SEAT Leon Cupra R and that has a 55 litre tank! More reasons to look forward to my new MCS, roll on the 1st September!

My MCS has averaged 37.47 over the 5600 miles since new, mainly on Tesco 99. I can regularly get around 400 from a tank, with a best of 414 (it took 50.01 litres, though!). I don't do town driving. It is noticeably less if I've given it some 'spirited' driving in Sport mode, though...

Jesus!!! how the heck did you manage that, best ive ever managed is 350 and thats nearly running the tank dry. !

im getting 34.1 and averaging 300/340 per tankful. I never let the trip computer go below 5 miles though.

i always use tesco 99, and rarely use the sport button, although the air con is nearly always on.

i'm just approaching 3000 miles on the odometer, averaging 39mpg with a mixture of town and motorway driving - about 60/40 and I always thumb the sport button and cannot resist giving her the beans when the opportunity arises I still cover about 400 per tank so I'm well pleased
