Offline | How do I open my bonnet???? On Saturday, I needed to open the bonnet on my R56 S and couldn't do it. I looked in the manual and it showed a sort of lever in the centre of the bonnet but I'm sure that's what it looked like on my R50. I think the manual may be for the earlier build. Can someone please explain how the bonnet opens, once the release lever is pulled. I'm baffled. PS. I am blonde and thought that maybe explained the difficulty, but hubby couldn't work out how to do it either and he's usually good with things like that. ![]() |

Offline | It is where the manual shows around about the center, just you need to get your hand quite far under the bonnet to find the catch as it is set back a bit, Does take a bit of time to find on the R56's Unless its changed since i lased looked at an R56 ! ![]() MINI2's Resident Dyslexic |

Offline | It is a tricky lever to find ![]() Three quarters of the way along the grille, so about 5-6 inches to the right of the badge. Put you hand up inside the bonnet, there's no 'lever' as such so have a poke around with your fingers till you find the bit that moves ![]() ![]() |

Offline | the flap is directly lined above the 2nd to last letter of your registration plate. put your finger under the chrome grill trim (top portion, and you may have to gently lift it a little as it may stick in the down position) in the above described postion and you will feel a plastic flap, push this up and the bonnet should release- it's spring loaded so you will feel it move upwards. hope that helps |

Offline | The safety lever under the bonnet is situated a little right form the center. You need to go fairly far in to feel it. Take Note: The engine can get quite hot after running it for a while, so try and open the bonnet when it is cold! |
