Offline | Few Mini Questions Hi, couple of questions with regards to the Mini Cooper S. Firstly I hear about a tlc which means free servicing for 3 years, how much does this cost and does it actually save any money? I've also heard its available for up to 8 years but parts are excluded once the warenty on the vehicle has run out? What is the interior on the 06 on Mini's like, are they free of irritating rattles and how is road noise in the cabin? Is 40+MPG easily obtained or do you have to drive like a grandma? What sort of OTR price can you beat dealers down to for (example) a new 57 reg, chilli pack with tlc? Thanks. |

Online | Hi Spies, Welcome to MINI2!! The TLC pack gives 5 years or 50k miles servicing, whichever comes sooner. There is then a TLC XL extension pack to take you to 80k miles. These include parts and labour on the service, but do not inlcude wear and tear parts such as brakes, clutches, exhausts etc. Interiors are top notch The interiors are different 1st gen to 2nd gen, but both are screwed together very well. The 2nd gen Cooper S can achieve 40mpg - just!! The 1st gen with the supercharged engine varies between 24 and 30mpg depending on how its driven. You'll very rarely get a discount on a new car - often the price you see is what you pay. You might be lucky and get TLC thrown in for free, but not much more than that. ![]() |

Offline | When I got my MCS in July this year, the best mpg was 41.0 mpg. It's now done 2,000 miles and is showing 37.3 mpg from new. Using the Sports Button reduces MPG , but is worthwhile as the throttle is more responsive. I think I'm correct in saying that over-boost comes in if you foot down hard. |

Offline | Hi Spies welcome to mini2 , i think 40MPG is pushing it try 34 MPG, as for over boost gives extra burst of torque when blip the throttle on overtaking etc, i think this was discussed by Roland and he said set rev's to be held then blip to get best results , plenty of torque in the engine anyway. ![]() |

Offline | MPG will vary how you drive of course, I can get between 40-41MPG in my early R56 every week. Thats with mainly motorway commute in the week and back road fun at weekends, should be even easier in the newer version with start/stop etc. Best way I found to get the overboost is to hold the revs at say 3k for a few seconds then stamp on the throttle. Seems a bit inconsistent if you don't hold the revs first. As for your other questions re road noise and ride just go test drive one Spies. Ride will vary depending if it has sports suspension or not and wheel size too. The runflats give slightly more road noise than normal tyres but not drastically so. Some suffer lots of rattles, some don't. Sport button on, traction control off, foot down, sure you'll enjoy every minute! |

Offline | This talk of overboost and how it works perhaps explains why my MCS seems much quicker when I accelerate on some occasions rather than others. Sometimes it seems really..'bang' and it's off and then at other times it doesn't seem quite as quick, irrespective of sport button setting. ![]() |

Offline | Overboost will work irrespective of the SB being on/off. The SB just makes the throttle/steering more responsive. When driving in snow, ice and muddy conditions then turn it off. |
