Offline | Getting my first MCS this week Hopefully picking up my first MCS this week. Looking forward to it. Just hope it doesnt sound like the MCS on the thread 'Diesel Noise'. Otherwise pointless chopping in the Shogun Sport. Also looking forward to communicating with the forum on a regular basis. ![]() |

Offline | If it's the new R56 MCS then it isn't as quiet as a normal petrol engine but apparently it's to do with the direct fuel injection and more and more cars will begin to sound the same , so I've seen it written anyway, I have had mine for about three weeks now and I'm lovin it. It's very quick , it's as good as my MO on fuel and is only £115 a year road tax due to the lower emissions. It sounds great aswell. ![]() P.S Welcome to the site Stifler. ![]() |

Offline | That's what I thought , We had a week in New Quay over Bank Holiday week and I thought great some beautiful Welsh roads to start running the car in but on the way there we got stuck in a lot of traffic. Still we went over Devils bridge and the was very enjoyable and the journey back home was much better hence going we were averaging 41 mpg and coming back we averaged 39mpg. Around town I'm getting about 31/33 mpg which is the same I used to get out of my MINI ONE. ![]() I haven't found any of the R56 faults as of yet..touches wood...ooer ![]() It's better put together ,it doesn't rattle, it goes like stink and I know some people mourn the loss of the harder suspension but for most of the driving I do it is a better compromise. ![]() |

Offline | I had something similar with mine Stifler. I was supposed to pick it up on the Saturday and at about 3.30pm at work i get a call to say that I can't pick it up cos it needs an update and MINI won't let it go until it's had it but that the CD with the update will arrive on the following monday and I should be able to have it shortly afterwards. Phoned on Monday and was told that the update hadn't arrived and so i still couldn't have it. Eventually got the call on Tuesday evening to say they had the update and would do it on Wednesday morning. I picked it up at 1.00pm ish on the Wednesday. It was a blessing really cos I've only ever picked up new cars in the wet or dark and the previous Saturday had been chucking down all day but the Wednesday was glorious sunshine plus it was the first day of a week and a half off work. I was really annoyed when first told I couldn't have it but then I figured that there are people starving and dying in the world and I was having a strop cos I couldn't pick my car up for a few days.Be patient there , not much longer, don't forget the piccies ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Well Stifler, today's the day...I bet you're not in the least bit excited. ![]() Yes Stifler, very sad not only about Colin but his son and the other family onboard. I was only looking at some old photos the other day and some were of the Audi sport rally from mid to late eighties. The scrutineering was here in Telford and there was a stage through the town park and I've got some of Colin from scrutineering looking very young in the group A Sierra Cosworth and Jimmy in a cossie and Gwndaff Evans in his lovely pink Mr Tompkinson? cossie...with matching pink overalls...and David(Dai) Llewelyn...(not sure if thats correct spelling) remember him..in the Toyota celica. I say this..I don't know how old you are this might be all before you.... ![]() |

Offline | I hope you enjoy your new MCS stifler! I am so happy with mine, I have had it since the 1st of this month, the only thing is I still have another 700 miles to go to hit the 1200 mile running in period so can't give it the full beans yet! It still feels really quick though, even when keeping the revs below 4 grand. It picks up speed in 6th amazingly well, I think in fact that top gear acceleration might be quicker than my last car, a SEAT Leon Cupra R and that had 225bhp! ![]() |
