Sport Button light

Hello,

I collected my new MCS yesterday and went out for a spin in it with the sales girl to make sure everything was working ok - she didn't have a clue what she was doing and she is useless at getting back to you with answers....

...anyway my question is when she was showing me around the car she showed me the Sport Button ( ) she pressed it but the little light on it didn't come on but it displays it on the display on the rev counter, she quickly dismissed this as 'oh they must have changed this on the new model'....?!?!!??

Is this right? Does everyone elses light up?!

If it does, I haven't noticed it! I know it says 'Sport' on the display as mentioned

The button is obscured by the gearstick, so If it did light, I wouldn't see it! (Maybe they realised this!)

Cheers for the replies,

I have absolutely no faith in the sales girl and my thinking was that there is definitely a little spot where a light should come on so it seems silly that they wouldn't put a light there, unless BMW are just using old parts that are left over?!

One thing she also said to me was that it didn't need running in (I have read a thread on here about this) as they do this at the factory, but reading in the manual it clearly says do not take it over 100mph or 4500 revs.

yeah it says SPORT on the rev counter (top display) where the MPH is normally displayed - it only stays on for a short while though and then reverts to showing the MPH

Yes there is a little green light on top of the sport button which lights up when you have the sport mode switched on, there is also a 'sport' message which briefly pops up on the rev counter, mine is an August 08 model.

For what it's worth, that's what I thought should happen.

Yeah I thought that would be the case with the light! Looks like I will be mentioning it when I get the wheels fitted on Friday.

No I would excuse her behaviour if she was cute! There is one who is cute there but she has even less of a clue!! The sales girl I am using didn't know how to use the cruise control/auto lights/or auto wipers!! Apparently they come on there own...well yeah - if you have them set to the auto mode! You think they would have read the manuals....?!

Thanks for the replies

I hate it when a sales person hasn't got a clue. How can you sell something you know very little about..................our buisness would be laughable if we were the same.

Yes have to agree the standard of some sales people is shocking, and i think Mini should mistery shop some of these dealers if they want standards to improve IMHO

I think the mystery shopping idea is a good one and one that should be implemented, I am in sales myself and I know that my clients just would not pass business to me if I didn't know what I was talking about. The problem we have here however is the fact that the car pretty much sells itself, ie you fall in love with the car, so it could be trained chimps selling us the cars and we would still buy it!

Just been out to check in the dark to see if the light comes on and it doesn't...
