I picked up my brand new MCS on saturday, have done 60 miles in it so far and am averaging (according to the computer) 45mpg. Obviously running it it though so not exceeding 4 and bit thousand RPM.

The stop/start function is switched off though as soon as I get in the car!

Speeding has never killed anybody, suddenly becoming stationary... that's what gets you!

Had my new MCS for a week or so, running it in quite steadily, and I'm currently averaging 37mpg. I've got statrt/stop enabled, but it doesn't do much on my average weekly journey.

36.1 from new in July 07 over 3.6K miles. When I was running-in the best I got was 41 mpg.

Having the Sports Button engaged when driving short distances is not advised as this only increases consumption!

I don't have Start/Stop, but do switch off in certain areas where I know the traffic light sequence.

MPG figures will vary depending on ambient temperature, as it's now Winter in the UK then choke operates for longer periods - therefore higher fuel consumption.

I think the mpg figures above are excellent for a car with 175 BHP. Previously I owned an 04 Type-R and over 3 years I averaged approx' 26 mpg, so my MCS is saving money on fuel but giving similar or better performance than the Honda!

Obvious question: if it makes no difference, why turn it off?

To be fair too, two weeks isn't much time to let any car bed in. I'd be amazed, unless you don't stand still on a journey, that it doesn't make ANY difference.

The start/stop facility is mainly for environmental emission purposes, rather than saving fuel. But nevertheless there would a % saving commensurate to the time the engine was switched off.

I seldom stop on my journey to work, traffic is pretty much always moving I don't think having the engine switch off for 15 -20 seconds at a time when I do have to stop will be doing much for the consumption, I do leave it on when I know I am going somewhere where I do get snarled up in traffic /traffic lights.
