Couple questions about speccing an S if you please...

We're thinking of getting a new S, but i was wondering about two things...

....how poor is the standard stereo and is the upgrade really worth the money?

and are their HID's worth the extra?

New Cooper S is here!

The stereo upgrade is very good (on the Canadian version anyway). I'm glad I got it.

One question is easy to answer: specify the HID lamps for sure.

As you live in the UK, then don't spend a penny on upspeccing the standard stereo without talking to this man first:

NewMINIStuff.com

There are far better ways to spend you money than on the standard stereo upgrades...

Tigger.

The standard Radio boost / CD player is not as good as the one in the 1st generation new MINI.

The Xenons are excellent: as standard they are set quite low but this can be adjusted. Are they worth nearly £500? I am not sure. But they come as part of the chili pack. If you are on a budget you can also spec normal headlights, and replace them straight away with brighter bulbs.

I have the HID..excellent.

I saved my ££ and got newministuff to upgrade my stereo..sounds fantastic now ! More expensive than the hi-fi option though.

Ok guys, thanks.

I probably would do just one of the two, but not sure.

Just had the missus ask, what the visibility pack is?

Visibility pack include heated schoosher jets, heated front windscreen (absolutely excellent in this weather...no scraping)..auto head lamps and auto wipers (excelelnt when it rains soooo much) and auto dim interior mirror...I think...it does miss out onthe heated wing mirrors which I think is strange.

You should spec the HID...and then add the stereo upgrade when you get the ££ together. Real hard and expensive to add HID later on.

I would also make sure you tick the "LSD" box...

Cheers fella.

Already got LSD on there. Not many other bit's though, as i'm not used to "upgrades".

Really didn't want to go over my budget of 17k and with metallic paint and a couple of interior changes, takes it to that budget already. We're seeing what discount is POSSIBLE, although i'm not holding much hope......even 1% would be of use.

Make sure you ask for TLC to be thrown in for free... I got that, and a discount off the dealer fit bits. Could not get anything off the factory bits though

Hard to keep the price down...way to many wee things that suddenly add up to big ££

Well i spec'd in the TLC when speaking to the girl and hoping to hear back from her tomorrow. Not had a test drive yet, so that will follow.

Just wanna make sure i get exactly what i WANT on the car. Missus will be driving it 90% of the time and she does a few miles during the week, so i could see the benefit of HID's. Never had them before myself though, so haven't really been able to "see" the benefit.

I'm sure whatever we get fitted, we'll love it anyways.

I don't think it's possible to get a half-decent specced R56 for only 17K.

If it's one or the other, then the HID for sure. Better to see than hear!

Jon, your probably right, but you get what you want and not what other people tell you to get.

Going to speak to thm about the HID's, just to see if there's any extra discount if getting them.
