Offline | depends upon the size of your wheels. Ask your dealer - they'll be able to tell you which can and cannot. There's also a fairly new things called snow socks which pretty much just a very high friction fabric specially designed to give you grip in the snow: Weissenfels WeissSock Snow Traction Aids AutoSock/Auto Sock. The Textile wheel cover for Driving in Ice and Snow.Auto Socks get you Home! Not tried them, but apparently they really do work. |

Offline | To use tyre chains you need to have rims 5.5" wide and 175 width tyres, as per MINI owners manual. A good set of true winter tyres will get you a long way. I have been running 185/65-15 Nokian Hakka 2 tyres on a set of 5.5"x15" rims and they are fantastic. 6" - 10" of snow no problem. Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! '06 MCS SB/S '02 MCS DS/W (retired) |

Offline | I bought a set of 16" std S -Winder wheels over crimbo after seeing this... RealOEM.COM * BMW R56 Cooper S WINTERKOMPLETTRAD S-WINDER R102 The new tyres which were fitted are going in the loft for spares and I've orderred the normal versions of the Dunlop tyres as they were £200 less than runflats. We use winter tyres on our other cars and they're great. Hopefully the weather will turn pants again! |
