I'm back! After 3 years I've decided it's time to get with a new min!

Anywho, my last S was an 05 plate which came fitted as standard with the LSD. I kept that car for a total of 4 weeks, all down to that vile LSD! On low speed cornering (parking, negotiating tight junctions, etc) that diff would graunch and grind like a good 'in! Used to sound like knackered wheel bearings!

I couldn't stand it, hence got out whilst it still had a little bit of value left ( lost 6 grand in that month!)

Now whilst speccing up my new one I appreciate that everyone says the LSD is a must have. My question is , is the new one any better? Does it still graunch and grind or have Mini accepted that the first one was a dud and improved the 2nd gen?

Your comments would be appreciated as i don't wanna spec that must have cheap upgrade and regret it from day one! So come on, spill the beans, does yours graunch and grind like a prossie on LSD?

We have LDS's on both of our 2nd gen cooper s. So far no grinding or noise at all just a really good diff that controls the torque steer and lets you get the power down in a much more controlled fashion.
Can you not get a test drive from a dealer in one with a diff and see what you think ?

Umm... It was probably grinding because of a problem that should have been resolved via warranty.

Anyway, I have an 06 with LSD and wouldn't be without it. Very nice feature and has saved my backside once.

I have LSD and think it is excellent, helps get power down on wetr roads when leaving corners. No grinding from mine. Seems a good option for the £100 it costs.
