Offline | Might ditch the S for 325 After all the annoying issues we have had with our 1 year old R56S me and the missus have are thinking over getting a BMW 325ci M Sport Convertible. Has anybody driven both? If so how do you compare the cars? I realise we will be losing a bit of power (0-60 is advertised as 7.7) though it kicks out 192bhp it is obviously a lot heavier I am in two minds but the missus is really up for it. I have this feeling I will regret getting rid of it though ![]() I am hoping we will get around 15k for ours Astro Black with 12k on clock and chilli pack Any thoughts? |

| MINI2 Regular | I got rid of my R53 Cooper S for a 325ci Convertable Sport last summer , it was nice to have for the summer but the car handled like a boat after coming from the mini. I remember i was using for petrol cause i was constantley revving the car trying to get some power and the mpg was low too..I went back and brought the R56 S... Also i lost a lot of money on the BMW in the little time i had it... ![]() |

Offline | Take a test ride! If you really are serious then I would advise taking an extended test ride. I run a 325D Touring and wifey has a new Cooper S. Two very different cars with one thing in common I dislike - run flat tyres, when the BMW tech was trying to convince me that it was all in my head I asked him why they dont fit run flats on the M series - he went strangely quiet ![]() I love the Min it puts a smile on my face whenever I take it out. The 325 is a business tool and does about 38K miles a year. Great performance and fuel economy considering its a 6 cyl 3litre lump. I would not go back to petrol unless I was buying a M series but I am not sure that I would stump up the extra when you consider a 335d is almost a match for it and you need to think real world motoring. I have only had one convertible and I am not that keen, if I want fresh air then I'm on my motorbike. Bottom line IMHO is if you want fun factor keep the Min but if a 3 is your flavour try the diesel you wont be disappointed. Skin |
