Offline | Lightweight Hey there people, currently in a r53 s and loving it, but me being me im always on the look out for a change. Really like the new s, havent driven it but had a cooper clubman as a curtesy car and ther56 drives like a dream. Have a couple of questions, has anyone gone for a limited spec car to keep it light? I was speccing the car up, i think i am only intrested in the chilli pack but there are things on it i am not fussed about. Air con i hardly ever use on mine, adds quite a bit of weight/uses fuel (i know abou the resale value however i will of paid less for the car anyhow. The other things that come with the chiili pack like storage compartment and floor mats, i already have floor mats (the really good MINI rubber ones). What is the storage pack? Passenger seat height adjust, i never sit there anyhow lol. In fact the only thing on there i would really like is the xenon lights as i have these at the moment. I then wonderded if this actualy makes any difference and just put the chilli pack on anyhow lol? Thoughts are welcome and you help is needed ![]() Also in my current s i have the grey recaros (lovely seat) and also the back bench to match. How much are the JCW seats in the new s (not too fussed about back bench) just the fron 2? |

Offline | The new JCW seats retail at roughly £1750 for the leather ones, and £1850 for the alcantara ones (and then most dealers will charge £200 for fitting if you need it - i think you have to have the seatbelt sensors recoded otherwise there will always be a seatbelt warning light on). Alternatively Chris at Woodman BMW, one of the sponsors of this forum does them at a special price of £1525 for leather or alcatara. (see: http://www.mini2.com/forum/derek-woo...d-gen-r56.html) Im hoping to get some myself, as ive heard they are some of the best seats available on any car. |

Offline | Mine is kind of a light weight model. I didn't order the Chili pack and it's only when you don't order it you see how much is missing ! The storage compartment is a little hidden cubby behind the dash panel above the glovebox. There are none of the fancy lights or switches you get in the panel above the rear view mirror in the chilli pack cars, it's just an opaque interior light and there isn't any light in the middle of the roof lining. As you've already said you don't get passenger seat height adjust (Or lumbar on driver and passenger) I did go for xenon's though as they are brilliant but not sure how much more they weigh and I did go for heated seats but I'd bet they only add the weight of a fag packet Oh and you have to order the 3 spoke steering wheel as an extra cause it's part of the pack as well. I saved quite a bit because all I wanted where the LSD and Sports Suspension on top of the other stuff.Saying all this my missus has the same car (R56 S) with the LSD, SS, and chili pack etc and we have run them side by side down a private runway near us and to 100mph there is only half a car to a car length between them so I'd say go for the xtras and be comfortable ![]() |

Offline | Yeah its my only real bug bear with Mini, i know its going to be more expenisve than say a clio, i dont mind paying the premium (i already am lol). But a 16k car really should have an onboard computer and air con as standard! When i specced up a car with stuff i only needed on, without the chill it was about 17500. When i stuck the chilli pack on and whatever i wanted/needed it was around 18500. Not too much difference for a bit of comfort i suppose!! What real world mpg are you getting guys? |
