Driving in

I would just like some opinions on driving in my cooper s.Iam now coming up to complete the first 1250 miles and have been driving it in as stated in the manual. Can you instantly go full throttle and have the overboost cutting in or should you gradually build up to using it over a few miles(I have avoided using full throttle so far).Should I gradually increase the rpm I shift up at eg 5000 for x amount of miles then 5500 etc.I think I will try the sports button as soon as I have passed the driving in mileage.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The running in is all up to the individual driver. I've personally opted to drive it harder as I work towards 1250 miles. I'm currently at around 750 miles covered now. My first 500/600 miles was relatively varied driving, but trying to keep it within the guidelines. I now try to drive hard, but not ridiculously over the top. That's what the "S" is designed for .

I think you'd be safe to drive it at any revs, maybe over the sapce of 100 miles, you gradually increase the RPM. However, it's upto you.

Suggest you follow the Handbook instructions. Regarding the sports button treat the throttle with respect as it becomes ultra sensitive

I wouldn't get too hung up on it unless you are the type of person who thrashes the living daylights out their car, I have had loads of new cars and just take it easy for the first 1200 miles or so, try not to floor it or rev it too much, to be honest I don't drive it too differently now really not day to day. The main thing with the car from whatever age is to let it warm up properly before driving it hard as long as you are steady you shouldn't have any problems!
