Offline | 1/4 mile run for the first time 15.5 seconds WOW, what an experience. It was my first time ever to go down the tarlton track. I went in the Turbo MINI and I was so nervous just because I did not really know how to read the lights or when to spin the wheels and what to do when i get to the end. All these butterflies were eliminated once the light went green. I just put foot and ensured that I had a great pull off and changed gears precisely and quickly. On my first run I posted a time of 15.5 seconds which felt fast for my standard car 95 unleaded and road tyres. I tried to get fancy with the next couple of sprints by playing with traction control and playing with a throttle abit resulting in a time of 15.7 seconds. I need a lot more practice but it was great fun!!! What is a good time for a R56 MINI Cooper S and what is the fastest recorded? ![]() MINI, it is a way of life. Offline | I think on a good day the R56 MCS can achieve less than 15.0 seconds from what I've heard on here and elsewhere. I've seen posts around also suggesting the auto MCSs are always quicker over 1/4 mile? |

Offline | Thanks. I had a full tank of gas at the time aswell so next time i will have hardly any in. The gas we get in South Africa is 95 unleaded which also hampers performance compared to 98 or 102 in the rest of the world. MINI, it is a way of life. |

Offline | I am not sure what the JCW engine kit is worth but I ran a 14.5 on a warm Australian night (about 28 degrees C track temp). This was with 98RON in the tank and dunlop run flat yres at road pressure. My car is a R56 MCS with JCW tuning kit. The biggest problem I had was traction, fine line between bogging down off the line and wheel spin. Can't wait to get back up there now that the temps are lower, I think it may have a low 14 in it with turbo freindly temps. |
