Offline | Looking forward to seeing it (obviously not as much as you are though). Your interior is exactly what I want so really looking forward to saturday. Good luck with the wait! Argh! |

Offline | It's HERE! It's the DOGS! (Prepare yourself for lots of exclamation marks and smilies) The Aero kit looks stunning and you get JCW door sill trims for free! The Leather Lounge interior looks amazing! The sat nav looks fantastic with funky graphics! The engine really pulls! It all feels incredibly solid and slick! The Hi Fi stereo sounds superb! It rides a lot smoother than my old one despite 17" runflats instead of my old 16s! And last but not least - it is as fun to drive, if not better than my old MINI! I am ecstastic (can you tell?!) Some pics taken in the West End of London tonight Better pics tomorrow cos I have to go out now but I really wanna stay and play with my MINI! |

Offline | Thanks for the comments. Went on the Middlesex Mini Maniacs run today where the MINI frolicked in puddles and got absolutely filthy! (not to mention a near side ways moment, but that was me not the car - OOPS! ) Here's a few more pics - not brilliant but I will do a proper photo shoot when I have more time:Right let's get the minor grumbles out the way - because NO car is perfect! From some angles the new body looks quite blocky and upright. Storage space is now pathetic, the plastic on the fake wing air vents reminds me of Lego and the downsizing of the tank is annoying. I also have a couple of glitches - while my electric mirrors fold as they should, I can't adjust them, and the piece of trim that says "Airbag" is missing off the rear pillar on one side. I also thought the bonnet fit on Poppet's Mellow Yellow S today was more uniform than mine. But other than that, it's just good news after good news. After 200 miles I have to say the thing that I am most impressed with is the interior ambience. The Art Deco look of Cream Colour Line, Piano Black and Sat Nav is money well spent. The switchable interior lights only add to the feeling that you are driving a small luxury car, it's much classier than some high spec BMWs I have ridden in. At first I found the engine note gruff and Diesel like, but I think it has gone up an octave or two even since yesterday. As for the ride quality on standard suspension - on well surfaced motorways it's superb with a soft cushioned feeling, but it's not floaty. On broken urban roads, I would say that the ride on 17" is the same as the ride on 16" in the old car. I noticed on the previous MINI with 17" S-Spokes a feeling of quite a bit of unsprung mass at each corner but I don't get that feeling with my car on Flame Spokes. It may ride like a much larger car at times, but the MINI still has that "up for it" personality. It grips and stays as flat in corners as the old car, but is not knocked off course by bumps in the road, meaning it flows from bend to bend beautifully. And the steering is as meaty and chuckable as ever. Those who say the MINI has lost its character are talking nonsense. The MINI Hi Fi to my ears exceeds the standards set by the previous Harmon Kardon set-up. Even my dealer was impressed when I played Missy Elliot at full blast! The bass still shakes the neighbourhood but the higher frenquencies are now clearer and crisper. All in all, I am still over the moon! ![]() |
