Dilemma!

I have ordered an R56 cooper with pepper pack. I would really like a sun roof but can't afford the extra £670. I keep thinking should I forgo the pepper pack which has air con, and have a sun roof and a few other extras? Am I really going to miss having the air con? My final spec has to be in by Friday.

If you have the sun roof but not the air con i think you will be roasting in the summer. Opening the roof and putting the windows down does not cool you down on a hot day like air conditioning does - quite the opposite. Plus it's like sitting in a greenhouse with that big double glass roof. My advice would be keep the air con and forgo the sunroof and get yourself a cool roof graphic instead

I would have to agree, keep the air con and ditch the sunroof.

sunroof just adds weight to the car, more heat if closed, and of course the possible issues with leaks like on the current car.

Stick with your pepper pack

Its only a forum you know!

Having had both the Sunroof on my last one and aircon on this one... I would have to say AIRCON...

saves weight
No rattles or problems resulting in time spent at MINI servicing dept.
No noise when open...

nice and cool at the touch of a button with aircon..

although if i could have had both i would have... if they made a lightweight version anyways..

EMPTY SPACE NEEDS FILLING....
but it has to be something that wont get me banned

Agreed... What they all said... A number of people have gone down just the sunroof route and regretted it...

Agree with what others have said.

I have the sunroof on my car, I use it all the time but air con is better in the summer and is a must for resale values.

I favour air con over the sunroof BUT you'll have a blank toggle with the interior lights cluster.

i would love a sunroof, i have aircon, and couldnt go without it, but if you really want a sunroof then maybe wait a little longer to save up for something you really want.

I love my sunroof. Never had any problems with it or on my previous Cooper.

Would never give up A/C. Imagine being stuck in M6 traffic for three hours in 30 degree+ heat without A/C?

Definitely keep your air con! I did what you are considering (got the sunroof instead of air con) and believe me you will roast during the summer! While the sunroof leaves the inside of the car nice and bright, when the full summer sun is beaming down on that glass !!!
So (hopefully) next car I get i will get both

Not the most compelling reason to spend nearly £700!

Couldn't agree more - but all part of Mini's professed marketing tactics.

If that was true every MINI One and Cooper ordered to date would have had ASC+T just to fill the blank next to the passenger electric window switch.

Not been a very successful tactic, has it?

Successful or not (and you will know far more than me about it) you'll recall from the stuff released so far about the r56 the phrase " so the more options you choose the more toggles you can have" (or something like that!)
