Offline | yup, I'm a newbie here too. I ordered my car in early December (I think) and finally picked it up on Monday March 26th (I could have had it on 1st march, but I was on holiday) I first started looking into buying a MINI around about last September and I've been lurking around here ever since. I would probably have bought the Mk1 quite happily if they hadn't been about to release the R56, which coupled with the really expensive used MINI prices encouraged me to take the plunge and buy my first ever brand new car. I only actually registered here once I'd picked up the car and wanted to start asking some questions. As I've said elsewhere in these forums, this site has been absolutely invaluable to me in researching what I wanted to get, and now it's proving priceless in helping me decide what I need to worry about on my lovely new car (so far it's helped me decide that I should ask the dealer about the dead pixels on my sat nav screen, but that the fan noise from the engine is probably normal on the new cooper engine as it runs in) I imagine I'll be kicking around here for a while. This is a very habit forming forum. My last car was a Ford Focus - nice enough, but very bland compared to my MINI Cooper in BRG with white bonnet stripes! ST |

Offline | To be fair you cant compare the two, the Old ones I was used to were still fantastic fun but the build quality was poor, Rust remember that! Well the Mini’s use to Rust like hell. Helped Remove a few Sub-frames, The old brakes, in fact My mate has probably a complete Mini in parts, original cooper Engine etc in his garage. It's not that I prefer one to the other, but the New Mini lets face it has BMW build quality and design. But it was the New 56 that got me interested again. |

Offline | So very new here. It was just timing for me. I'd been talking about the mini forever. Finally my friends said just shut up and order already!!! So I finally narrowed my specs and decided on NightFire red, chrome-line interior, sports and premium packs, xenons w/wash, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rear fog-lamps, heated front seats, arm-rest and Hi-Fi sound. To make it even sweeter I got a $2000 discount because of my job! ![]() small car, HUGE obsession! |

Offline | I'm been here since Dec 06 - but this is my first mini. The price always put me off but fancied something a little bit different and all the other small fast hatchbacks depreciate so fast - so I decided to go for a Cooper. Quite pleased (except for the bonnet issues I've had) a bit diiferent from the Skoda Fabia estate TDi I used to have - and only 5mpg less Only thing that really annoys me is the very small petrol tank. |

Offline | New to Posts Hi I've always being intrested in Austins, Minis and Coopers, I was wondering if anyone knows when the R55 (clubman) or whatever name Mini will give to this production car will hit the states. I hear the back doors won't be barn door style. And are the side doors going to be suicide or not, also what price range are we talking about. P.S. I like looking at all the great advice you guy's are giving out. Thanks ![]() |
