Offline | Irish Trade In Price?! Hi Everyone Been offered €20k trade in for my 2005 Cooper (Chilli Pack, Sunroof, Multifunction Steering Wheel, Driving Lamps plus lots more1)Paid €30k. Okay, I know the extras dont count but basically they have just offered book value, when I know they are selling for above book value Has anyone any views on this? Is it a lot of hassle to sell the car privately (any tips, scarey stories?) Thanks! |

Offline | Wow, that's pretty poor. A dealer should take into account the extras as there is a big difference between a basic Cooper and a €30k one. Can I ask which dealer? and what you were trading in for? |

Offline | Mmmm, I hear what ur saying Fabio, but I still think that there will be plenty of people who wont or cant buy a new car so that the secondhand market for the Mini will still be strong. Saying that i reckon this time next year will be completely different as there will be two versions of the mini on the second hand market (meaning the current version and the R56). Its just a bit disheartening to get such a poor trade in price for my beloved!!!! Still have a few more dealers to try so fingers crossed! |

| F43i0 | You should put it up on carzone and see what reaction you get, but i think coming up to Christmas the car market slows down alot apart from that your best off to try all the dealers and see whats the best price you get , i got stung on a trade in price and i've learned a little lesson on trading in cars. |

Offline | Hi Aisling, I know you are in Dublin, but you should give Kevin O' Leary's in Cork a try. Ask for Owen, he's Ned78 on here. I've done a deal for a R56 Cooper and got a very good deal. Defo shop around though. Cheers, Fergal. ![]() It's a MINI Clubman adventure! |

Offline | Thanks for the replies lads! Yes, I am definitely going to try lots more dealers and if it comes down to it I'l chance carzone to see what happens! Will keep ye all posted as to the best deal I get (if i get a better one!) Might try O'Learys but the only thing I have reservations about there is if I did purchase that far down south, if I had any niggles with the car afterwards its a long journey!! I know any Mini dealer should fix anything under warranty but they may not be as accomodating if I bypassed them in purchasing! Would they fix any niggles with dealer fit extras etc.? |

Offline | It's always a good idea to shop around. In my experience your most local dealer won't be as helpful if you come in with a car purchased elsewhere, especially if there are dealer fit options on the car. This attitude from dealers sucks but is reality for the most part. So it's a balance between best trade in price and dealer location. Ideally you could sell your car privately and get the best of both worlds but this can be v time consuming. Trying to do the same myself at the mo...... |

Offline | Convertible values - Scotland Scotland doesn't fare much better. Ours is a November 2004 (54) Cooper Convertible, Chilli pack, Cool Blue, 11,800 miles and utterly unmarked. We paid £16,900 for it. The supplying dealer says £12,000 against a new Cooper hatch. Admittedly we haven't started to shop around, but it's a very dispiriting start - so much for fabulous residuals, eh? |

Offline | Sorry Fergal, missed your post - only seen it now! No, I did'nt call Kevin O Learys, everyone thought I would be mad to drive all the way down there for a car (prob take me 4/5 hours!) and I was a bit concerned with having problems aftermarket and trying to get the dealers up this end to take it in for me if I did have a prob. So as of yesterday I have ordered my new car, got a few more bob for the trade in but have decided to sell it myself so it will be going into the carzone next week!!! I've been given delivery date of 3rd week in January and I have a month to change my spec if I want to. My new spec is below: Mini Cooper S Laser Blue w/ white roof etc. Bonnet stripes Chili Pack Sunroof Punch Black Leather Heated seats Chrome line interior & exterior Fluid Silver Trim Multifunction steering wheel Also getting driving lamps and iPod connection dealer fit. Might change the wheels if finances permit but i doubt it!!!! ![]() |
