Build Delays - "Due to supplier issues"

Just to give anyone who has ordered the heads up. Our dealer has advised us of the following (via e-mail):

I have just been advised by MINI (UK) that:
Due to supplier issues with:
Option 405 - Mirror caps in Chrome plate and
Option 493 - Storage Compartment Package,

November and December production MINI's are rolling into January and February build slots.

We did have 493 on ours but still had the option to delete it, we have, so we're still on for December and saved £90

Excellent dealer service keeping us well informed.

Damn it, I have the storage compartment specced for a week 50 build.

Have to wait and see what I hear from the dealer.

Thanks for the info

Do you think it will be possible to retrofit this option then without great cost?

Its only a forum you know!

Must admit I would be suprised

Quote:
Storage net in front passenger footwell
storage in front passenger décor surface
floor net in boot with two extra lateral separating nets
backrest angle adjustment on rear seats
12V socket in boot

The compartment behind the dash and angle adjustment on the seats sounds an expensive retrofit.

Shame becuase this would be a really useful option.

the main bit of it is the storage part in the upper part of the dash, the part where the CD changer can be seen on the newmini2006 site. It gives a second glove box, the lower glove box is on all models.

Oh ok then. So would this be difficult to retro fit. I didn't go for a CD Changer.

I guess until any of us see it, then we can't look at what parts might be needed to fit it, but it would be a moveable panel in the dash, hinged, and somewhere for it to attach and lock to, so a few parts would be needed I guess.

If I see one in the next couple of weeks then I'll be sure to be looking for things like this, and how they could be retrofitted and taking the dash apart for icelinks etc...

Let us know how you get on.

I think stage 1200 means its ready to get given a chassis number.

cheers what does that mean exactly how long from that to actaul start of build.

from my understanding it seems because it is at that stage I have a fair chance of getting the extra glove box.

guess it will be a wait and see game.

You should definitely get a glove box as they are standard spec.

Its the extra storage space on the top part of the dash that you won't get if the storage compartment pack isn't available.

Just checked with dealer (who have been excellent so far) as have this spec and the sales & administrator not aware of any problems as of today, even checked computer, still expecting car for delivery in November in 1st batch..... (Ordered in September - might have beaten the delay as a result ?)

Scotland Ordering Info on 2nd Gen

Hi,

I'm new to the site and I'm looking for a bit of info.

Finally decided to go for it and order a 2nd Gen last month. Went into the dealer on the 18/09, paid deposit and put down a provisional spec. The dealer said that he would contact us when the full spec was available so we could go in and finalise -haven't heard anything since! We've called him a couple of times but he says that apart from some material samples he's no further forward with options. I'm a bit confused as to where we are in the process - has our car been ordered and when can we expect it?

Can anyone help?

Cheers.
