Pure Silver The Dreaded "It's going to be delayed" call

Well i've had mine, have you?

After weeks of being told it would be on time, and after being rushed in to finalise my spec because "its about to be built" I have had the call nobody wants to hear. My new car is going to be delayed by between 3 and 6 weeks. Not a happy bunny

Anyone else heard the same?

Not that long ago i got a call saying my build date was being brought forward, so I have no idea what happened to that!!

When was your car supposed to be ready, for launch day? Did they give a reason for the delay?

I won't be very impressed if mine is delayed as I traded my cooper in 4 weeks ago. Since then I have been driving a crap Daewoo, and having to drive it for another 3 weeks is long enough. I will go nuts if I have to drive it until the end of Dec!

Do you have the storage pack, chrome mirrors, or comfort access on your order by any chance?

Hi,

Went into the dealers today to find out about a PX price, usual sales person was not there but, there was a message that there were some problems with the storage pack that could mean that the car would be delayed until the end of the year.

Will have to call the sales person and find out what's up on Monday

Regards

Paul;

Storage pack yes, but seeing as they made a big deal about mine being one of the early builds I didnt think it would affect me. so if i cancel the storage pack it should be ok?

Does that mean I wont get a glove box?

Questions questions

Questions questions

The glovebox is standard now, the Storage Compartment Pack is the additional compartment above the glovebox, passenger footwell storage net, floor net and 12v socket in the boot and backrest angle adjustment on the rear seats.

Usually, once an order is accepted by the factory it cannot be changed, so, even though there is a delay, it is highly unlikely you will be able to change your spec.

It MAY be worth getting your dealer to ring MINI, but you may have to either sit and wait or get them to order you another car without the delayed option.

That call is well annoying ......... Hope you can sort it out.

If it is the Storage Pack we had the "Will Be Delayed" e-mail from our dealer on the 17th October.

We have found a picture (nicked from Mini.fr) of the dash bit of the storage pack which is attached (not brilliant but the best we could do. We think the bit inside is the 6 CD autochanger?)

Good Luck

That's the CD Changer, but that is also where one part of extra storage is when you order the storage pack.

Thanks Scrogg, I will try ringing my dealer later (she is very hard to get hold of!)

mGP says he got free accessories, does this happen often? You would know more than most, what things do people usually get? Do you think it's worth me asking?

Thanks for the pic.

I knew there were some problems with the storage pack, but i had been told mine was an October build, so i assumed all would be well! sadly this isnt the case, i probably could have picked Nightfire red as well now (that couldn't be ordered at the time) which is annoying.

Perhaps you should be contacting MINI, as it is a production issue causing the delay, rather than blaming your dealer? You do realise they are quite within their rights to just give you your deposit back and refuse to take your order?

Why is it that people automatically assume that they are entitled to something free just because life doesn't automatically go there way all the time?

Stuff happens. Deal with it. Move on. Life is too short!

I didnt automatically assume anything......... Nor did I blame my dealer.......

I wasn't the first to mention free stuff, i just asked because someone else mentioned it.

Its fair to say stuff happens, but this will be my 3rd MINI and with each one there has been different order problems. Plus the prospect of having no car for 6 weeks during the run up to Christmas isn't something i am looking forward to.

I was talking generally, not aiming anything at you in particular, so please don't take offence.

The point I was trying to make is that people are too quick to jump on the 'compensation' bandwagon, when most dealerships are more than reasonable and will do whatever they can to help keep customers mobile. Demanding free stuff because there is a delay at the factory will only cause friction, which none of us need in life!

remind me not to buy a car from the dealers you work at.

I cancelled the storage pack but because I am Mini's best every customer they are going to make a exception for me and give me the wee cover bit at the top of the glove box.

Do you believe that. Me nither but that's whats my dealer told me think they were spinning me a line but I let them
