Offline | R56 Test Driven Hi guys. New to this forum but I am lucky enough to work at BMW UK and had the opportunity to take the new Cooper out last week. Despite being initially disappointed by how similar it looked, this soon disappeared once I got inside. The build quality feels a lot better than the outgoing model, and boy does it grip in the corners. Torque lower down the range is impressive, although top end is a little disappointing (I guess thats what the Cooper S and JCW editions are for!) Have to say that you definitely will not be disappointed with this car. It definitely has the "feel" of quality as the BMW influence has permeated the manufacture, but is still very much a MINI. Also, the JCW F1 is a brilliant car, anyone on this forum manage to get one? |

Offline | I reckon it's Gross Profit Tigger. (With apologies to GP owners out there, you must have all known something that the rest of us didn't, just a few short months ago ) |

Offline | Like where Tigger? The quality of my 02 MINI was a total joke (rattles, squeaks from just about everywhere in the car) and the main reason I got rid of it and replaced it with a Golf. I've test driven 3 R56, only one had a rattle from the dash and it had just been into the workshop to get the wiring fixed/checked. The salesman was totally peed off as the day before it went in it was perfect (he promised me) over the same roads. |

| Dodgey, er, dodgem driver | I must admit that the quality of the R56 is leagues ahead of the 1st gen Cooper. It also IMO looks more modern (well thats what 5 years at the top of "the modern class" does), and it seems better screwed together. What more could you want? |

Offline | As an owner, I would say build quality is much better than my previous Cooper. Where are these "so many areas?" ![]() Last edited by ~Marcus~ : Dec 21st, 2006 at 11:43 PM. |
