| MINI2 Regular | Petrol consumption really is good! Took my R56 mini cooper out for a 60 mile run today, and computer worked out I had more petrol than when i started! I've been mainly running around town, so the computer said I had 203 miles of petrol left when I started my journey. When I got back it said I had 213 miles left, average miles per gallon 41. So it is true what they have been saying. I mentioned before not hearing the exhaust, but you can when you overtake someone. It sounds great! ![]() |

![]() MINI2 Master | I get everything from 25 MPG tthrough to 51.5 MPG on a tank (Viper, PlayMINI and remap). Purely depends on how you drive, the journeys you make and getting stuck in traffic. Can't see the 2nd gen engine's being that much more fugal if you're having fun. |

Offline | I'm now 2 weeks in and showing 42.6 mpg with an average speed of 43mph. The R53 used to do about 37mpg, so the improvement is about 15%. In addition, I've found that the pulling power of the engine is good. Even in 6th, it doesn't bog down but will push on if needed (although obviously, much more so in lower gears) R56 AB Cooper |

Offline | The miles til empty reading is just that; it doesn't say how much fuel is actually in the tank, but rather how far you can get on current consumption. So if you had a gallon in the tank, and had spent the last 5 minutes stuck in 1st/2nd stop/starting it would show not many miles to empty. But if you then drove at 50 in fifth along a level stretch of motorway the miles to empty would increase. R56 AB Cooper Last edited by SteveBrass : Dec 11th, 2006 at 09:33 AM. Offline | Does anyone do mainly motorway driving in their R56? I'm about to start looking at replacing my company car and need something economical but quite quick - I do 150 miles motorway driving a day on average (at 'around' 70mph of course!). Does anyone else do something similar to this, and if so what mpg are you getting? My current company A3 2.0 TDI averages 44mpg and our 'family' new shape Civic 1.8 petrol matches it on the same journey (which I have to admit is impressive for a 140bhp petrol engine) but if the Cooper hits around 45mpg on my typical journey I'd be very tempted - is that too optimistic a figure? I've had 3 Coopers between April 02 and March 06 and I'm really missing owning a MINI! |

Offline | Did a 400 mile round trip M/Way journey at New Year when the car (R56 MC) had about 200 miles on the clock. Due to running in I didn't thrash it, but didn't exactly hang about either, and was pleased to get 45mpg. This was measured on the 'brimful to brimful' method which is about as accurate a way as it gets. It agreed with the computer anyway! SSL |

Offline | Have had our R56 MCS for 5 days now and have averaged 40 mpg with mixed driving, short distances (5 - 15 miles) so we are well chuffed. It is still being run in though and my wife is doing all the driving ![]() We had a R56 MCS loan car from MINI for 2 weeks and did 2000 miles in it!! Average mpgs were 38 mpg, with some spirited bursts included! A 500 mile drive, mostly motorway, averaging 75 mph gave 41 mpg - very impressive. New Mini Cooper S in BRG is HERE!!! |
