Offline | My first Mini today..The right choice? Today, I am picking up my first Mini. It's a Cooper with Chilli in silver with black roof and a silver union flag. I first tested a Mini back in 2001, that's so far back I forgot why I didn't buy it! Anyway, since then I have had several cars. But nowadays, I don't do a great deal of mile and I wanted something that is reasonable qulaity but also fun. The test drive was very enjoyable, I just hope ownsership will be. I can't help thinking I should have gone for an 'S' So many people rave about it!!. But at point of point order I didn't think it was worth the extra fuel consumption, money, and insurance for the miles I do. Oh well, I'm looking forward to it...but I hope I've done the right thing!!! |

Offline | Good luck with your new car. I have a R56 Cooper, which is my first Mini, and I love it. Yesterday I went on a long drive with 2 passengers who had never been in a mini, and both commented how smooth and quiet it was, and how well it held the road! Your colour combo will look ace too, what colour interior have you gone for? |

Offline | Thanks...I picked up the car on Friday afternoon. However, the silver UJ was not done ( I had arranged for this to be done by the dealer last minute) They said they were waiting for materials to come through and asked if I could drop it in Monday. Now...confession time!!....Having had the car a couple of days, I must admit, I like it the way it is, with the plain black roof. So, I have decided to cancel todays trip to the dealer to have the flag fitted. ..(.I use to be indecisive, but know I am not so sure ![]() As for the car. Early days yet, but so far so good. Like any new car, it's a bit like a new shoe. keep changing my seat to get comfy, running in and all that. All seems very tight at present. One thin I wish I could change is the brightness of the digital display on the CD boost and computer. The brightness control on the rev counter only changes the instrument illumination. It appears that the digits are only changed automatically via a photo sensor. Would prefer this display a tad brighter on a sunny day. I wi9ll post some pics soone..assuming you guys are still intersted now I have dumped the flag!! Cheers |

Offline | Really, never noticed this. I thought all the illumination could be varied with the button in the rev counter - that's with the lights on. Are you not happy with them with the lights off? Congrats on the car - you can always add a roof decal if you change your mind later ![]() Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Are you not happy with them with the lights off? I would just like to be able to make the digital display a little brighter on a sunny day. I suppose I was spoilt by my previous car (lexus) which had a very good daylight display. |
