Offline | Has anyone had any experience doing manual start/stop on older R56 MCS that didn't come with this option? My guess will be that it probably works ok short term, but fear that in a long run it may be bad for the car. I live in traffic jam capital of the world, so I am quite interested in doing this...if it is not going to ruin my mini! Reducing CO2 is a side benefits for me, the main one is to reduce the consumption. -AP PS. this is my first post here :-) |

Offline | My Panda* copes with manual start/stop and Fiat's aren't reknown for electrical longetivity, but then I only 'use it' at a couple of sets of lights where I know I'll be stationary for well over a minute; any less than that & I'm not sure it would save much fuel given the amount used to start. The auto system probably factors in current battery level and load and decides whether it's sensible to add the load from a start/stop sequence. You'll have to use the mark 1 human brain to decide - wait until engine is up to temperature and don't do it if you've used the heated windows/seats recently as these drain the battery. Similarly with aircon and headlights in current use. *OT: Just quoted £1800 px for it (55 reg with 5K on the clock, dealer retail in mid 3s) on a new ONE (currently with options £14500, ow!), so order is on hold until I've a private sale lined up and can firm up the figures. |

| Thinking Minis | Either way love it or hate it, its quite simple to turn it off for good! Just "adjust" the handbrake switch so it does not know when the handbrake is on. Simple...............but then all the best things are! Lucky is a way of life (tm) 243.5 bhp & 205.3 ft lb |

Offline | Why would you mess with the handbrake when the system doesn't use the handbrake as far as I am aware? ![]() ![]() The Orange Blob As My Avatar Is The Mascot Of JetAlliance Racing Called 'Carli'. |
