701 miles and then it happened!

I knew from the sound what had happened and there it was

701 miles and the Cooper had its first battle scar a rolling stone chip down the door!

It has taken the paint off but has not dented the door?

How do you get this sort of thing repaired? I have never had a new car before so have never had to get this kind of repair done!

I feel violated!

I had exactly the same problem with my Cooper which had less than 1000 miles on the clock at the time. A police car scattered stones from the centre of the road when it was overtaking on a call and did the damage.

MINI said they would probably spray the door if it went to their bodyshop!

I didn't want that, so I used a touch up stick and used a detailing clay bar to take off the roughness.

You can't see it unless you look really closely. It's not perfect, but saved a bundle!

Hope that helps.

Ah, the joys of non-metallic paint!

I had a stone chip in the windscreen at 752 miles. I had it "repaired" -- meaning, it was filled with resin -- but it is still visible.

If you want your car to always look showroom new, it's easy to do. Just keep it in a showroom, and never drive it.

Try Chips away, they are pretty good and competitive, they are based nationwide.
