Offline | Mini One Mark II ordered... Hello - I'm new to Mini and just ordered my new Mini One on Saturday - the official day of the launch of the Mark II. It really is a different car to the one I learnt to drive in a couple of years ago. The biggest difference is the noise - no more whistling sound from the engine which I thought to be the trademark of the original and a feeling of bags more space in the interior - It's so quiet. The interior cloth has switched to a more sedate Cosmos Black, I'm not sure if I could have lived with the Dragon design. I'm hoping the interior of the doors will be dark like the one I test drove unlike the silver shown in the gallery on here - there didn't seem to be an option for that. I was glad to see the boot has been scooped out to allow room for golf clubs. I was a little worried by the new electronic power steering but it was nothing like the over-light, one hand drive, computer game like feeling you get from a French supermini. The addition of the mini speedometer within the rev counter is most welcome in the battle against speed cameras also. In honesty this One does feel a lot more polished and BMW like than the original, but the price for this is lot less character and likable rawness. I plumped for the Mini One in Astro black with Pepper pack and the reason for the post was all I managed to get off the dealer was a great trade in on my part ex air con-less '04 Clio, free TLC, heated mirrors & washer jets and a tank of fuel. I feel a bit of a mug for not getting any thing off the list price so I wondered if the lack of discounting is a common experience for Mini dealers ?? Yes I am that tight. Although the clock is ticking I still have time to add in a couple of further extras and I'm deliberating over adding a space saver spare wheel - has anyone had a puncture on a Mini and used one of those cannister things, does it work? Or and this is really pushing my budget switching to the 16" Bridge spoke alloys on run flats. Will the extra weight on the space saver make much difference and does anyone know if they are vulnerable to theft? I've heard nothing but bad talk regarding the run flats so I'd appreciate some input there also. I've always believed that the smaller wheels offer better performance but I'm starting to think the 16"s look pretty cool... Anyway well looking forward to getting the new car with or without the bigger wheels !! |

Offline | Hi and Welcome ![]() Did you mean you want the door cards in standard black plastic? If youve ordered the Pepper pack, surely that means you will get an interior trim on the door cards? Sounds like you did well to get what you did from the dealer! As for run flats, ive had them on 2 MINIs now and never had a problem. But i know people have mixed views on them! ![]() Whens the new baby due then? ![]() |

Offline | Congrats on the new car order The boot maybe slightly larger than before but no way would you get one golf club in there, never mind a full set. I drop one seat and sling them in that way. I would highly recommend the spare, even if you do opt for wheels with runflats. It gives you better options down the line if you have it. I have the spare along with 16" blasters with runflats. Both these and the bridge spokes look great. I doubt the spare is a theft risk. It is completely invisible and people would assume that a MINI has no spare anyway. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Ideally I'd rather the doors look like they do on the configurator rather than the silver look on the gallery. She attached. Due to a slick finance handover the new car is not going to arrive at the dealer until June |

Offline | Just went to the dealer and ordered the spare. I was all pumped up to buy the 16" wheels but they had a new Mini One with the 15" Spooler wheels in the showroom and I thought they looked really good - much nicer than any of the 15"ers I'd seen on the mark one. I hadn't seen them in the flesh until then so hopefully it will prove to be a wise choice! |

Offline | Thinking it through I just felt that the bigger wheels just fit and fill the wheel arches much better - in particular as the new model looks much bigger than the old one. Can't wait for it to arrive - it's going to feel so much different than my old Clio. Instead of being thrown all over the road at high speed and having to constantly adjust the steering I'm looking forward to sticking to the road! In particular it will be a new experience to live without the rattly sunroof, however I'm not knocking the Clio too much though I have had fun with it plus the CD player remote is a great feature. Still it says a lot about a car when that is It's best feature. |

Offline | The countdown continues. It's built and waiting to make It's way to the dealer but sadly my order has not gone to plan... As I changed the order there has been a mix up and they've not fitted the 16" Bridge Spoke wheels, but added the spare wheel. The dealers are going to swap the 15"s incorrectly fitted with 16" BSs off a showroom car. So in a nutshell after all my paranoia, thinking and order changing I've ended up with both run flats and a spare wheel! I am of course not paying for the spare wheel. It should be ready for pick up on Tuesday 19th June. I can't wait. Hopefully the wheels are going to be the only snag I face! |
