| Dodgey, er, dodgem driver | In the R56 One I learnt in, that was averaging 37.6mpg (Give or take a few tenths) This is on par with our Cooper doing very short journeys and pretty much no motorway driving!! That includes a lot slow speed manouvers and town driving - Also the very rare B road blat ![]() |

Offline | Currently approx 43mpg. Car has only done 2000miles so still improving. Tried changing gear in accordance with indicator for last tank full, made a small improvement but have nearly died of boredom. |

| MINI2 Regular | mine actually has shot up over the last few weeks. gone up from 44.9 too 45.2. but even tho my journeys tend to be shor ti should hope it continues to go up, i use the cruise control alot and stick to the gear change indicator. a full tank is about 411 miles no that ive actually done that many before filling! |

Offline | Cheapest car I have ever had to run - always averaging mid to high40's running around and have just driven from Cornwall to Edinburgh via overnight stop in Lincolnshire and averaged 54.7 doing motorway speeds all the way with air con on some of the time - what a cracking car - one year on and not a rattle. |

Offline | Wow, how do you all get so much out of it? I'm only averaging 40 mpg. The car's only done 700 miles though so I'm presuming it picks up judging by the responses so far? |

Offline | Once I got up to 5000 miles the engine just felt a lot freer and MPG improved by 2 or 3 MPG - although it was good anyway - in addition everything felt a lot nicer as the miles increased - gearchange etc - which was ok when new but pretty slick now. With the difference in price of unleaded and diesel - plus the difference in cost to buy there really doesn't seem to be any advantage in having a diesel at the moment. |

Offline | I'm currently on 45mpg, with a mixture of motorway, town and national speed limit roads. Im currently doing about 100 miles a day and have 3500 miles on the clock. Hopefully, the economy will go up as I get towards 10k miles. |

Offline | I've also owned a 2.0l A3 diesel and got 42mpg on average. My Cooper S is doing 41mpg doing the same weekly journeys to work/shopping. Really amazed and obviously please with diesel being 67p a gallon dearer. ![]() Modern petrol engine really have closed the gap on diesels. |
