Offline | sport suspension yes or no? ordered my new R56 yesterday, for production week 45 only have a little question about the sport suspension, on the coopers it is an extra option in the netherlands, only the dealer did't know the difference , so i ask it here, what is the best option, i will fit 18' wheels on it with no runflats en lowering spring |

Offline | Personally, unless you had plans to change the suspension to an aftermarket set up from someone like Eibach etc, I'd always go for Sports Suspension on any MINI. The new MINI "Sports Suspension" is suposedly close to the current Sports Suspension Plus on the Cooper / S. Firmer ride, less roll etc. |

Offline | No. But since the new sports suspension is close to the current sports suspension plus and that latter was too harsh for me I personally have not opted for the new sports suspension. R56 AB Cooper |

Offline | Plus the R56 suspension has been designed with run-flats in mind from the start, the current one wasn't designed for run-flats - therefore the ride quality on the R56 should be better.. ![]() |

Offline | Still Undecided I have a 2004 MCS and the ride is harsh, very bumpy, presumably (as people and the media have pointed out) that the run flats were never considered during design and build. If you have driven the new MCS with the sports suspension, how does it compare? Be as detailed as you like, personal experience and informed opinions count rather than speculation. Thanks, StevieB |

Offline | I've read many a review on the R56 and there seems to be a general consensus among pretty much every journalist; the sports suspension on the R56 is a bit too stiff, the better option is the std. suspension setup. Not my opinion as I have yet to sample either, but having driven cars w/ stiff suspension setups ( E92 335i, E46 M3, W203 C55), it will only be "too stiff" if it's as hard as the E46 M3's, which can be spine crushing on the right pavement. ![]() |

Offline | Since it is a no cost option (with Chili pack?) and the S is supposed to be a sports car then I would absolutely say yes - it can't be any more harsh than the suspension on the scooby that I used to have... Hope they finish the road next to my house soon otherwise bye-bye spine! Cheers Jim New Mini Cooper S in BRG is HERE!!! |

| MINI2 Regular | Stiff isn't always fastest, I enjoyed my first coopers handling on 175s and standard susp. to the Sports+ setup with 17s Yes the car did grip more but the softer suspended and thinner tyred car handled better and was more fun, which in my opinion is what a mini is all about , it is not a caterham. BUT I will probably order my new Cooper with standard susp and 17s as it looks crappy with the small wheels due to the car's increased dimensions. |
