Higher or Lower

I want to lower my car but I'm just concerned about going over speed bumps and pulling on my drive. Lohen have quoted me £270 all in with Eibach springs. Also I'm fitting the aero kit but i dont think this will effect it.

So is it 30mm or 20mm or Leave well alone???? I also dont want the ride to be to harsh .

Now With Toyo Rubber!!

If you have decided on lowering sprngs only, then I would suggest 20mm. It will also look lovely with the aero and you wont have any problems when loading your car (either with your mates or with the misses shopping )...I have previously fitted Eibachs on my R53 MCS and the ride quality has not changed much, but bare in mind that the new mini has different suspension characteristics as well...

good point I'm on 17"s. Think 20mm would prob be best for day to day use but I agree the lower the better. Can you notice 20mm?

Depends what sort of clearance you need to get on your drive. The aero kit on my current Cooper scrapes quite a lot, the R56 I borrowed with the kit didn't as much but it was still very close on a lot of occasions, so it would scrape if it was lowered.

I lowered my R53 about 40mm. The R56 has more ground clearance, so going 30mm is easy. Watch out for the R56's reduced suspension travel though.

I've decided to leave my MCS on the standard sport suspension for the time being even though I'd like it to sit a bit lower. Here's the reasons:

1. Not had the car a week yet, so hoping it may settle down a bit.
2. My dealer has said that replacing the suspension would invalidate the warranty on the suspension (duh) and any parts connected to it. The 'any parts' worries me a bit.
3. I'm pretty happy with the ride quality and wouldn't want it that much worse.
4. The car hasn't been out long and I'd rather let other people do the mods first and see what they think of them!

The springs aren't going to settle significantly. It'll be only a couple mm at best. It's always safe to keep it stock if you're not comfortable accepting responsibility for modifying your own car. Keep in mind that the aftermarket is typically years behind; especially the ones that will make products that actually improve handling, like H-Sport, Moton, LEDA, and Koni.
