Offline | Advice on lowering a MCS??? Hi everyone Can any of you guys/gals give me some advice on lowering the R56 MCS? I often see Mk1 MCS that have been lowered and look fantastic, so need to know what I need to do to get the same look. And what is the ballpark figure that I would expect to pay for this? Recommendations for garages to do this work would be greatly appreciated. (London/Essex) Cheers, Mark ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Lohen do Eibach springs which will lower it 20-25mm but I'm not sure if thats low enough to look low if you know what I mean. What you really want is coilovers that can be wound down like 50mm but I don't think these have been devolved for the gen 2 yet. Offline | Hi m1tch, thanks for your reply. I don't want it so low that part of the tyre goes under the wheel arch, I just want it so the wheel/tyre almost completly fills the hole, so to speak. Any ideas? Mark ![]() |

Offline | Check out this thread for pics of Ryephile's car after installing some H&R's: Astro: '07 R56 MCS Looks pretty nice. So nice, I've got a set now... just waiting for my MINI to arrive later this week! ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. Offline | It's subtle, but nice. I thin H&R was claiming between 1 and 1.5 inches front and rear (H&R part # 29090-1). Ryephile measured before and after and found 1.5 in the front and 1.0 in the rear. I would assume that they will settle in a bit to after a couple thousand miles. ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. Offline | KW 35mm lower spring after 6 months these go very low looking and even a 17" rim really fills the arch right up...and on the rears it sits just up inside the lip! I have these on my car and they were £125 for the springs and fitting is about £100-150 |

| Deals Gap Junkie | Like msh441 said, even though H&R claims a front and rear lowering of 1.5", I measured a 1.5" lowering front and 1.0" lowering rear. This is of course after a few miles to settle the suspension, and measured on a level surface. My indicator lenses are intentionally orange; if I wanted to get them in clear I wouldn't have ordered Astro Black. ![]() ![]() |

![]() Boosted | Whats the low down on warrenty when fitting springs? I can understand if the suspension would no longer be covered but the rest of the car should be fine? And for people in the UK, how does it affect TLC? I read on the back something about any modifications invalidating the TLC, is it dependent on the dealer? Sorry about all the questions but i have to sort out how much this could really cost me! ![]() .: R56 Cooper S : Dyno'd 192bhp :. ![]() .: H&R Springs : JCW Discs : Forge BOV : Alta CAI :. |

Offline | I would say it depends on the dealer and what specific problems arise in the future. Logiclly, I now have no expectation that my struts are covered... and I would bet that if I managed to mushroom a strut tower, it might be debatable. It was a change I knew I was going to do out of the box. The car was either going to get the MINI sport suspension and lowered with springs ($500 + $480 for installed springs), or come with statndard suspension and get a full coilover setup and stiffer rear swaybar ($2000+). Either way would have the same potential warranty considerations. I took what I believe to be the less expensive option. I really like the results so far (both loooks and handling) and wouldn't consider owning the new R56 without one of these options. ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike.
