Hi,
A lot of people with early cars have problems with water getting into the BC1 control module (luckily not me!) that seem to cause random problems as you describe.
Have a search for "BC1" and "water" in the forums and you will see plenty of threads. Then you can see if this is the same thing you are suffering from.
