REME MINI Mountain Tours – Part 2 Yosemite - Kings Canyon

We have reserved a block of 20 rooms for Friday through Sunday nights at Yosemite Gateway Inn. Rooms are non-smoking (smoking rooms available by request), with 2 queen beds for $98.00 per night. The cutoff date for reservations has been extended to July 31, 2007 at this rate. Because it is a holiday weekend, rooms may be difficult to find if you wait until the last minute.


DAY ONE (271+ miles):
We will begin this event Friday morning, meeting for an 8:30 am departure from Daily Grind Coffee at 8000 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento. Our run to Oakhurst will take us south on State Route 49 with a side trip to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Bring your own food and drinks to eat a late lunch at Hetch Hetchy at about 1 pm. We should arrive at the hotel by 4:30 pm. If you don’t want to join us for the ride from Sacramento, you can meet us at the hotel. Dinner reservations are for 7 pm.

Pre-ordered dinner choices will include chicken, beef, or fish. Tax, tip, non-alcoholic beverage, entrée, salad & tip are included. Specific menu items and prices will be posted shortly.


DAY TWO (254 miles):
We will meet in the hotel parking lot at 6:30 am and leave promptly at 6:45 am to tour Yosemite Valley. After a couple of scenic stops, we will have brunch at 10 am at the historic Ahwahnee Hotel (menu) ($17.50 per person) or you can eat at the food court in Yosemite Village.


After breakfast and a quick tour of the Ahwahnee Hotel, we will return to our cars and continue the trip at 11:30 am and head up Tioga Pas Road to the Tuolumne Meadows Visitors Center. We will return to the hotel by 4 pm via SR-120, SR-140, & SR-49. Dinner will be at 7 pm followed by an evening bowling or watching your friends bowl from 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm. Bowling costs $30 per lane per hour including shoes for up to 6 people or $6 per person per game including shoes.

DAY THREE (284 miles):
This will be the longest day of the run. We will depart from the hotel parking lot promptly at 7 am traveling on back roads through the Sierra National Forest and Sequoia National Forest to arrive at Kings Canyon National Park at about 10:30 am. After a cruise through Kings Canyon, we will depart from an early lunch at Grant Grove Village at about 12:10 pm. We will take other exciting roads by Bass Lake returning to the hotel by 5:30 pm. Dinner will be at 7:15 pm.

DAY FOUR (126+ miles):
Day Four will begin with a departure at 9 am from the hotel parking and will end with lunch in Oakdale at 1pm. After lunch participants will find their own way home

Make hotel reservations by July 31, 2007.
Sign up on the REME MegaBBS calendar.
Notify us of your dinner choices for Friday night by August 20, 2007.
Be prepared. Have a full tank of gas in your car and visit the bathroom before you meet the group prior to initial departure or departure after breaks.
Travel with snacks and lots of water. We will not have lunch on Saturday (brunch will be at 10 am). Meals are often either later or earlier than planned. Gauge your water intake. Stops are generally 2 hours apart.
Have your radios recharged or have fresh batteries. Set radios to channel 7, sub-channel 21.
Bring your camera with recharged or fresh batteries and film (if required).
Plan to have some fun.
