Last week I did some drag racing, I thought you guys would like to now how well my
MCS stood up to the challenge.
I raced a 2002 Seat Leon 1.8 T, 6speed, 180hp stock, but this had exhaust, wheel/tire combo, nology wires and a CAI, and the other car was a barely broken in 2007 R56
MCS with the manual tranny as well.
My car is a 2004
MCS, 6 speed, fully loaded, with ALTA CAI, ALTA 15% reduction pulley, NGK iridium plugs, and F1 eagles with around 10k kms on them. Tha car has done around 42000 kms.
we raced at 1300 mts over sea level, with 91 octane fuel, (that equals to a 97 in the uk), this wasnt a drag strip so there was no timing instruments but dont worry it was a closed road. the total lenght was 450 mts long, which is a little more than a quarter mile.
first I raced the seat....4000rpm, dont want the car to stall or too much wheelspin, dump the clutch.... just with the jump I was ahead for almost a car, then I kept gaining advantage and ended beating the seat for about 4 car lenghts. Reapeted it with the same result. Did two more runs from 15km/hr and still I kept outdraging him quite easily. I was surpriesed by how easy I kept beating him.
The next race, against the turbo Mini, I thought it would be very even, and it was. We raced like 3 times, and there was no clear winner. I had faster off the line, then he started to gain on me, then I reached 6000rpm and started to gain on him, the to the next gear with the same result. every time the same result.
I know he is supposed to have less power because of my mods, but I was actually pretty happy with being able to hang on...
