Interestingly enough, my mates merc aircon seemed to die the other day and having previously read this thread:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faults-fi...ored-cold.html

We went to halfords today, bought the £40 aircon refill can with the pressure gauge included, found the low pressure arcon point (case of the only one we could find and that it was the same size as the MINI one), tested it with the pressure meter first and found that the pressure was low, followed the instructions on the can, 5 mins of cold hands later and the aircon was back up to pressure and working great!

Not really sure what the problem could be but for the money it was cheaper than a trip to the "squeelers" and sorted the problem, after that we tested every car we could find and all were great....

So the fact that

No car should ever require its air conditioning to be serviced

is not entirely true.....

Your choice folks, worked for me!
