| I had a similar decision to make when I bought my MINI since the 350ZX was around the same price as an Cooper S if you take in the account of the markups :\
As I found out from my insurance company, the MSRP is the important factor in insuring the car. So consider the MSRP on a MINI is 20K for the base model S. The 350ZX is around 29K. Of course there are all the other factors stated above.
You can't go wrong with either car, but I stuck with the MINI since it's more exclusive.
Besides, a Nissan still a Nissan.
