are there any real gains in very high rpm launches? it may sound contrary to accepted drag racing BUT;........
With the engine being supercharged , running up to say 5000rpm on the line ? the charger is creating a lot of heat ,the air is recirculating ,and off load Once the clutch is dumped the boost is instant and the heat built up released into the engine ,but there is little or no intercooler airflow at this point.
the rapid temp increase must be seen by the ECU ,and would take some time to normalise tne temp (the intercooler to have forward speed to cool it for one )
Perhaps a lower launch rpm and the time holding the rpm at the line kept to a minimum actually produce quicker times and better terminals (nitrous excepted,charge cooler excepted)
Turbo cars I can see the need to spool the turbo but s/charged cars far less so
what rpm did people launch at?
When i broke it i launched at 3k, i think it was the higher revs i had tried the previous afternoon that had the biggest impact on it. Also Adam thanks for your help also, will be on the phone for an engine damper later in the week
