Firstly to let you know the information was given to me by one of the organisers the other day.
This was because the door panels have changed this year and I asked if I could keep the set of last years panels on the car whicht I had already fitted to promote the event.

The answer was flat no for the reasons given in my other post.

I think the insurance is something that is required under Italian law. I would presume that the insurance is similar to public liablity insurance for an event rather than personnal accicident insurance for each car.

Earlier this year we wanted our own stand at Mini in the Park. But it didn't happen as they wanted us to provide a certificate of public liabilty insurance before we took part.
What we did find out later, was that if you write to the IJ in advance they can cover you on their insurance for your fund raising events.

As far as you're or your UK car insurance is concerned it's a navigational exercise, we are not in competition with each other, and no different to any other MINI run.

Just make sure that your UK insurance allows you to drive abroad in all countries you intend on visiting along with breakdown cover.

Remember this is only my understanding of things and if you have any concerns it might be wise to contact the IJ.
