There is a Janspeed
MCS head on display in there reception area. We see it everytime we go in to collect exhausts. Its pretty basic CNC milling though (no 3D stuff). The best heads with the most advanced CNC machining are the GTT heads. We are very advanced with CNC milling (that was my trade for 14 years).
Claims of high power increase on stock engines + gasflowed head are a bit like the increases you get by remapping a standard
mcs.............ie not representative of the increases you would get from that head or remap COMBINED with a hike in boost.
eg Take a standard head slice 1mm off the face ..gain 20 horsepower or so (and VERY torquey!) and market the head as 'gains 25bhp' even on a stock car. Trouble is that head would need to be so different on a pullied car to gain the 25bhp (reliably). Same with mapping, you can gain 'say' 15bhp on a standard car BUT again this map doesnt work with a pullied car. ( too advanced timing) In effect there are 3 things you can increase ...TIMING, COMPRESSION BOOST. You need to see the results of 'off the production line' heads on cars with boost increase etc. Not one off 'blueprinted' heads on stock boost cars. I reckon I could produce a head that would gain around 40bhp on a stock engine +remap. It wouldnt be any good with a pulley though, and the overall max you could get from the engine would be limited. You need to balance everything ..thats how we got 273bhp (240whp) from our old supercharged GTT260 car.(uses GTT stage 2 head)
