A friend of mine hit a pothole (1feet x 2 feet 8 inch deep) on the A34 by Oxford, buckled front and rear alloy.

Took him 6 months to go through everything with the Highways agency in the end they said nothing to do with them as it is impossible to maintain every stretch of road in the UK.

Case closed, had to pay out for the alloys himself.
