At the risk of boring all longtime MINI2ers, I'll just repeat that there is nothing special about the wheels used on the MINI with runflat tyres.
By now, many many MINI owners have installed non-runflats on their original wheels.
The decision is yours to make based on your priorities.
Runflats do allow you to continue driving with a puncture.
