I know but up to now it's the only way that I've managed it and other people I know have managed it without problems (apart from the big job scenario) .

As I think I said in that thread I actually prefer the 2 little clocks (speedo & rev counter) on the steering-column rather than just the rev counter because it's easier to keep your eye on, I think they look pretty cool there, and they also do the surround for the 2 little clocks in anthracite, which my car is on the interior but I have got a silver speedo as that is the only option .

As "Scrogg" has said look into getting The Cockpit Chrono Pack fitted as I think The Cockpit Chrono Pack can actually be retro-fitted to MINIs originally without it, therefore there must be some sort of kit, but it wont be straight forward, the same as most retrofits, and will most certainly need some sort of reprogramming and will need the mileages calibrating to keep the mileage genuine, another point to consider it (Cockpit Chrono Pack) was only introduced to the face-lift models (R50s, R52s R53s) so it may not be possible to fit it to your MINI (i have never fitted one to any model so I wouldn't know what is involved, I have removed few), I have seen people just buy the little speedo / rev counter & the clocks / gauges that replace the original central speedo but it's not just as simple as that as the dash wiring will be / is totally different .

You may be able to get an auto-electrician to sort it all out for you but in my experience they seem to be a little weary of the little big MINI .
