| I use a TuneFlex. Plugs into the cig lighter to provide power and charges the iPod. The audio is taken from the port at the bottom of the iPod, so the sound is much better. A 3.5mm aux cable then plugs into the TuneFlex and the aux input of the Mini. Ipod slots in and out of the dock with ease. It even automatically pauses the iPod when the ignition is switched off.
For me, this was the best alternative to the OEM iPod interface. It took some getting hold of mind you. I was told they are no longer available to Oz, but whilst I was searching for one, there where plenty of UK sites that sold them. Amazon being one of them, but they won't ship electrical goods to Oz.
