I can't speak about other markets, but certainly in the UK the standard radio boost on the R56 comes with an aux-in. It is located under the toggle switches in the centre console in front of the gearbox, but hidden from view. It is a 3.5mm jack and can connect to the headphone socket of any MP3 player / iPOD etc using a 3.5mm male to male lead (available from electronics stores). Not being a proper iPOD connection you cannot control an iPOD through the stereo or steering wheel though.
