Blue Cooper mini Dooper Fuel Survey

Hi

Been thinking about this for some time and have finally decided to do it.

This is gonna be my mini Dooper Fuel Survey - 2008

Granted it's not gonna be too big but I'm hoping fellow Dooper owners will throw in their 2pence worth!

However I wanna only keep this as a Dooper thread as this is what a dooper is for - the mpg baby!

So ths is how it's gonna be.

My milegage was 3783 miles - got my dooper in sept 07.

For the most part it was just city driving using BP Diesel wilth some BP Ultimate thrown in every so often for good measure.

In the next few weeks I will be doing about 1000 miles a week.

In the last week I have done 1002 miles - 160 miles for five days - going on the A3 -> M25 -> M27 ------->>

I will use Shell V-Power diesel for the next 2 weeks driving at an average of 55 miles per hour and will use gentle acceleration and early braking techniques and try to use the dooper as it was planned to be driven.

I have done this type of of drving for about a week already and my mpg had gone from 44 mpg to 47.2 - now is this down the the fuel? probably not!

Now If I continue to drive as I have been doing for the past week my Mpg should stay the same or near enough give or take a couple of mpg.

So I wanna see if the premium Diesels fare any better with regards to mpg.

The reason I say this is because for the past week I was filling up with Tesco's Diesel!!!

So I decided to try out Shell V-Power to see if I notice any differnce.

I drove the car with a tank full of V-power Diesel (and got a free enzo too - bonus ).

Okay - You can feel the difference of the V-Power diesel immediately - it's subtle and thats the beauty of it! The acceleration is much smoother and the car seems to purr when it's idling instead of the usual diesel gruff noise I had gotten with Tesco Diesel, even when cold. It also seems to have a bit more pull when you put the hammer down when needing to quickly pull away.

But I will see how the V-power Diesel goes over the next few weeks and then see if I notice any difference when I switch over to BP ultimate.

As I said if any dooper owners wanna help please do.

Oh and If you guys can think of better ways to making this test more fair please add them.

Cheers

dooper
