GP Roof Number - info Hello all,
thought I'd share the info, in case anyone else happens to have the same problem now or in the future. I more or less went through hell with this, so I am hoping this info will reduce issues for others.
Back in October, the "6" from my roof number fell off. It is simply stuck on, and these kind of things will happen I guess. Since then till today, I have been driving around with GP198 instead of GP1986. I was told by Mini UK (my car is UK registered so i go through Mini UK for all my needs) to simply walk into any dealership, and order the part. I did that in early November, and it took them over 4 months to deliver. The problem is the complete lack of part number in the BMW system, which makes ordering anything incredibly difficult. I had to involve BMW Italy and UK in putting pressure on the dealership to look into my order and actually make sure it arrives. Way too many calls and emails. not fun!
Today it arrived. You get the full number with the GP letters in front - not just the missing number. It comes under a part number which I am willing to share to verified GP owners only. (I am sure we all don't want a group of wannabes driving around with some fake GP and now with a roof number - so not going to make this part number public). This was done fully under warranty and did not cost a thing. Takes less than a minute to apply. I only used the 6 and now have back up of G P 1 9 8 which is cool.
So, if you ever lose a number from your roof and need the part number, PM me and ill help.
Great weekend to you all
