If you are confident working with car electrics temporarily connect the fan motor to a live feed bypassing any switch /sensors. If it turns fan is ok. The fan resistor can be replaced but is situated under a plastic cover and wires are soldered in place.(see Haynes Manual page 3.4). The coolant temperature sensor is fitted to the LH end of the cylinder head. (see photo also in Haynes manual)The temperature gauge and cooling fan are both operated by the ECU using the signal from this sensor.
