You were quite right, I can actually see the pipe squashing closed on vacuum. I wonder if this is the cause of the poor fuel consumption I have noticed lately.

I have sourced the replacement pipe. It looks like I need to remove the intercooler in order to replace the whole pipe. You don't happen to have any instructions do you?
