I considered a Golf TDI 170 46.3mpg overall, 0-60 7.9, emissions 160g/km
against an R56 Cooper S 45.6 mpg overall, 0-60 7.1.. (mpg In the 08 model), emissions 149/km
Just shows you that there is nothing in it and the petrol will always beat a diesel for thrills!
After testdriving both the only reason to go for the Golf was space!..
The Mini was more fun, was at least as fast midrange, and just felt more special rather than the nondescript Golf IMO
In the end fears about the cost of fuel and where it was heading meant I got a Dooper
